A group of academics, journalists, scholars, writers and artists has urged the Nagaland government to order an impartial inquiry into an alleged incident involving professors Dolly Kikon and Sanjay Barbora at Nagaland House in New Delhi. The signatories also sought an apology over what they described as humiliating and intimidating treatment.
The allegations relate to events surrounding a documentary screening organised by the Naga Scholars’ Association on September 15. The claims remain allegations and require an appropriate fact-finding process. The appeal has drawn attention to questions of institutional conduct, academic freedom and accountability within a facility representing the state outside Nagaland.
