Human Rights of Arunachal has expressed support for communities opposing the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project and urged the state government to review its approach. The organisation cited concerns about livelihoods, forests, biodiversity, indigenous culture and the seismic sensitivity of the Himalayan region.
The group called for dialogue with affected villages, elected representatives and civil-society organisations, along with transparent disclosure of project-related information and independent safety assessments. It also appealed for restraint in handling protests and said development decisions should respect indigenous rights while addressing environmental and land concerns.
