BEML Limited has secured an order worth more than Rs 5,400 crore from the National High Speed Rail Corporation for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor. The contract covers the supply and maintenance of high-speed rolling stock along with associated works for the 508-km project.
The state-owned manufacturer has been developing the B28 high-speed train at its Bengaluru facility. The order gives an Indian manufacturer a major role in the country’s first bullet-train project and will be closely watched for delivery timelines, localisation of technology and long-term maintenance performance.
