Fans gather at Sonapur to mark one year since Zubeen Garg’s death

Hundreds of fans gathered at Zubeen Khetra in Sonapur on September 19 to mark the first death anniversary of singer Zubeen Garg. Admirers, family members and artists assembled at the memorial site, where songs, tributes and commemorative activities reflected the continuing public attachment to the late performer.

The gathering formed part of a three-day observance supported by Assam’s Cultural Affairs Department. Garg’s death in 2025 triggered widespread mourning across the state, and the anniversary has again underscored the scale of his cultural influence across music, cinema and public life in Assam.
