FSSAI opens cases against Nestlé India over infant formula claims and biotin test

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has initiated three cases involving Nestlé India’s infant nutrition products. Two relate to promotional claims made for NAN Excella Pro Stage 1 and Lactogen Pro 1, while another concerns a follow-up formula sample that the regulator found had non-conforming biotin levels.

Nestlé India has said it adheres to applicable regulations and label-declaration requirements and will continue working with the regulator. The proceedings are regulatory actions, not final findings of wrongdoing. The cases draw attention to the strict standards governing marketing and composition of foods intended for infants and young children.
